Publicity for Authors
As an author, what kind of publicity is available to me?
Publicity allows you to leverage the size and trust of someone else’s audience, while getting your story or book out there. It also doesn’t cost you anything.
Here are a few types of publicity you can leverage:
- Podcasts: A podcast is a recorded audio conversation between you and the podcast host. They are typically 20–60 minutes long, and are wonderful for listeners to fall in love with who you are.
- Instagram Lives: Doing an Instagram Live interview or hopping on with someone else is a great way to get in front of new audiences, and drive the traffic back to your profile.
- Be Featured in Articles or Newspapers: Having someone mention you or interview you in an article positions you as an expert and drives people to your book or website.
- Guest Posts (blogs, articles, etc.): These are articles you write for someone’s blog or website. You can also link your post to your website, book, or lead magnet so you can build your list or sell more books.
- TV Interviews: Television interviews are great for building credibility and clout. These are excellent for holiday or awareness day promotions.
- Tip: It is MUCH easier to get featured on these platforms if you have ALREADY published your book. However, you can always reach out to them before your book is launched to secure your spot.
